The Latest On All Things Goalkeeper Gloves In The Premier League

German company Pope's were the latest glove brand to appear in the Premier League…

Loris Karius' first Premier League appearance for Newcastle at the end of February saw one of the goalkeeping's most talked about names return to a top flight starting lineup for the first time since 2018.

His outing against Arsenal at the Emirates also brought a new glove brand to the Premier League.

The German goalkeeper wore Adidas gloves during his infamous spell at Liverpool. In recent years, however, Karius has sported Pope's goalkeeper gloves, a German brand founded by Christoph Nowak.

The Newcastle goalkeeper made headlines when he wore a unique pair of golden brown retro-style gloves in the 2023 EFL Cup final against Manchester United. This time around, he wore a white and purple colourway of the brand's Clean Sheet 2.0 gloves.

Pope's boast an impressive number of professional endorsees across some of Europe's top leagues. Nowak told Goalkeeper.com: '[our gloves] have played in the Premier League, in Serie A, in Eredivisie in the Netherlands, in Austria, Switzerland, Super League Turkiye, Norway, Denmark, so we now have to wait for La Liga - that’s the last one!".

Wolves goalkeeper José Sá is another who has, more recently, turned away from Adidas gloves. The Portuguese stopper was seen wearing a pair of Elite Sport gloves in their FA Cup tie against Coventry.

Elite have this year penetrated the glove endorsee realm at the highest level. Thibaut Courtois moved away from Nike at the start of the season, switching to Elite. Both he and have sported the Elite R II Combi Black model, though likely with some SMU modifications.

Burnley's James Trafford was displaced this past Saturday by Arijanet Muric in the Clarets' starting line up. Glove-wise, Trafford has alternated between Adidas, Sells, and Uhlsport gloves over the course of the campaign. Muric sported a pair of Adidas Predators in the Marinerush Lucid Blue/Cloud White/Solar Red colourway in his first Premier League appearance.

Away from the Premier League, The One Glove announced the signing of former Manchester City goalkeeper Zack Steffen as a new endorsee for the brand.
