Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker in tears as he celebrates title victory with head coach Arne Slot

It’s the 27th of April 2025. Liverpool versus Tottenham at Anfield is the setting. The final score is 5 - 1, confirming Liverpool’s historic win of the Premier League title for the 2024-2025 season.

What makes it all the more remarkable is that this victory marks not only their Premier League win this season, but they are now tied at the top with Manchester United for the most Premier League wins. With 20 trophies each, Liverpool have regained a perch for the time being as the most successful club in the history of the English top flight.

This also marks an historic feat for Arne Slot who only joined Liverpool this season. Slot now adds the Premier League Title to his impressive repertoire along with his top standing as the coach who headed the most wins for Feyenoord, the Dutch team which he head coached from 2021 to 2024 before leaving for Liverpool this season.

During the match, Dominic Solanke of Tottenham fought hard with an early goal, but it was not enough to allow Spurs a foothold with the first-half goals of Luis Diaz, Alex MacAllister, and Cody Gakpo of Liverpool effectively securing the win before half time. Just before hitting full time, a sea of fans in orange braced themselves for an emotional celebration of a lifetime along with their team on the pitch. It’s a triumphant frenzy of red and orange. Brazilian goalkeeper, Alisson, was in (a Liverpool of) tears. This is what it means.
